Privacy policy
Summary
Family Organizer is a private assistant used by a single household. It connects only to that household's own Google account. It does not sell, rent or share Google user data, show advertising, or use the data for any purpose other than organising that household's calendar.
What Google data is accessed, and why
| Permission | Used for |
|---|---|
gmail.readonly | Reading messages that family members have forwarded to the household account, to find event details (date, time, place, what to bring). |
gmail.modify | Adding a label to each processed message so it is not handled twice. Messages are never deleted. |
gmail.send | Sending email from the household's own account when the household asks for it, for example a follow-up about an event. |
calendar | Creating and updating events on the household's family calendar, and reading that calendar to build the daily digest and reminders. |
How the data is processed
- Family Organizer runs on a private server controlled by the household. Access to it is restricted to the household.
- The Google authorisation token is stored on that server with owner-only file permissions and is never published or shared.
- To pull event details out of an email, the text of that message is sent to the OpenAI API for processing. That provider handles it only to return the extracted details. It is not used to train its models.
- Extracted event details are sent as reminders and digests to the household's own private chat channels (Telegram and WhatsApp).
- A small local record of which messages have been processed, and the events created from them, is kept on the server so the same message is not handled twice.
Sharing
Google user data is not sold and not used for advertising. The only other parties that receive any of it are the ones named above (the AI provider that extracts event details, and the household's own chat channels). Beyond that, data would be disclosed only if the law required it.
Google API Services User Data Policy
Family Organizer's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Google user data is not used to develop, improve or train generalised artificial intelligence or machine learning models.
Retention and deletion
Email stays in the household's Gmail account and events stay on its Google Calendar, under the household's control. The server keeps only the processing record described above. Revoking access (below) stops all further access at once. On request, the server-side records are deleted.
Revoking access
Access can be revoked at any time from Google Account → Security → Third-party apps with account access. Once revoked, Family Organizer can no longer read mail or change the calendar.
